Are you sick of embarrassing sweat patches? New Skin has the solution!
Hyperhidrosis is the medical term for excessive sweating. Perspiration is a perfectly normal bodily function, and sweat plays an important role in moderating the body’s temperature. However, hyperhidrosis sufferers sweat more than necessary, and this can be both uncomfortable and – if sweat patches become visible – embarrassing. Hyperhidrosis is most commonly associated with the axilla (armpit), but it does affect other parts of the body, including the hands, face and feet.
How can an injectable filler help?
Fillers are a treatment given by injection into the skin. A simple injection into the armpit to prevent the sweat glands from producing sweat. It is an established treatment, used for many years and entirely safe. Treatment takes approximately 30 minutes.
How quickly does it work and how long will the effects last?
Within 7 days you will notice an improvement, usually lasting around 6 months or so. Your practitioner will work with you to decide on an on-going treatment plan.
What are the possible side effects?
You should expect to experience bruising, redness and swelling at the injection site. You may experience nausea and/or headaches immediately after the injections are given. This is temporary and should disappear within 48 hours.
Cautions / contraindications
A full consultation will be conducted before any treatment, however most people will be suitable.
Can changing my lifestyle improve my condition?
Generally speaking changing your lifestyle will not cure any underlying cause of Hyperhidrosis but it may benefit your symptoms and help your confidence. You may find triggers that you know will make your sweating worse, such as spicy foods or alcohol, should be avoided. Tight, restrictive clothing or man-made fibres can contribute to making symptoms worse.
